Where we work

Haiti's Central Plateau — Cange, Palmary, Kay Epin, Sylguerre

Our area of action

We work only in a few villages of Haiti's Central Plateau: Cange, Palmary, Kay Epin, Sylguerre…

These villages line Lake Péligre, formed by the construction of the hydroelectric dam in the 1950s, which impoverished and isolated the region's rural communities.

It was here that Doctor Paul Farmer and Father Lafontant founded the Bon Sauveur Hospital in Cange in 1984, and it is here that Zanmi Lasanté–Paris has concentrated all its work since 1993.

Why such a tight geographic focus? This targeted approach allows close monitoring of projects, a deep understanding of local needs, and real, lasting impact rather than spreading resources thin.

Our main villages of action:

  • Cange — home of the Bon Sauveur Hospital and the La Pléiade school
  • Palmary — community centre supported by ZLP
  • Kay Epin — farming area, AgroParisTech agrarian survey
  • Sylguerre — home of the La Main Divine school
